Become a Reviewer
The success of the Journal of JAFA depends on a dedicated community of expert reviewers who provide fair, constructive, and timely evaluations of manuscripts submitted from around the world.
JAFA operates a double-blind peer review. Editorial decisions are grounded in reviewers’ recommendations and adherence to ethical standards.
1. Why Review for JAFA
Reviewers are critical members of the JAFA editorial ecosystem. They are accomplished academics with demonstrated expertise—evidenced by publications and scholarly activities—in one or more fields covered by the journal. By reviewing, you help the editors select manuscripts that are original, rigorous, and impactful, and you support authors in improving their work.
2. Eligibility & Qualifications
- Academic credentials: a doctoral degree (or equivalent professional expertise) in a relevant field is preferred.
- Publication track record: recent, peer-reviewed publications in the subject area.
- Methodological competence: ability to appraise study design, analysis, and reporting quality.
- Professional identifiers: an active ORCID iD is required; institutional affiliation with a ROR identifier is encouraged.
- Availability & responsiveness: willingness to deliver reviews within agreed timelines.
3. Responsibilities & Ethics
- Confidentiality: manuscripts under review are confidential. Do not share them or upload to third-party tools or services.
- Impartiality & fairness: evaluate the work’s intellectual merit regardless of authors’ identity, affiliation, or background.
- Constructive feedback: provide clear, respectful, and actionable comments supported by reasoning and citations where applicable.
- Conflict of interest: disclose any real or perceived conflicts (e.g., recent collaboration, shared affiliation, financial interests) and recuse yourself if necessary.
- Use of AI tools: if used, limit to language editing only; do not input confidential manuscript content into external systems. Reviewers remain fully responsible for their reports.
