1. About the Journal

Philantrom: Philanthropy & Management Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes research articles, theoretical studies, and practice-oriented insights on philanthropy, nonprofit management, corporate social responsibility (CSR), social entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. The journal aims to bridge rigorous scholarship with real-world applications to enhance the effectiveness and impact of philanthropic and management practices.

Philantrom welcomes interdisciplinary work and encourages submissions that integrate perspectives across management, public policy, economics, sociology, technology, and development studies.

  • Philanthropic Strategies & Practices — giving models, foundations, donor behavior, grant-making approaches, effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Nonprofit Management & Governance — leadership, accountability, transparency, resource mobilization, performance management.
  • CSR & Sustainability — CSR frameworks, stakeholder engagement, ethical leadership, corporate–community partnerships, sustainable business practices.
  • Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation — impact-driven ventures, hybrid business models, scalable solutions to social challenges.
  • Public Policy & Philanthropy — regulation, government support, cross-sector collaboration.
  • Global & Comparative Philanthropy — cross-country traditions and trends; globalization and charitable giving.
  • Impact Assessment & Measurement — methods and frameworks for evaluating social, economic, and environmental impact.
  • Technology & Digital Philanthropy — platforms, fintech, crowdfunding, and data-driven approaches for social good.

Through these areas, Philantrom seeks to enrich academic literature, support evidence-based practice, and inform decision-makers in building meaningful, sustainable social impact.

3. Article Types

  • Original Research (max 15 pages) — empirical or methodological contributions.
  • Review Articles (max 20 pages) — systematic/scoping reviews synthesizing recent high-quality sources.
  • Brief/Short Communications — focused findings of immediate relevance (editor’s discretion).
  • Practice & Policy Notes — evidence-based insights for practitioners and policymakers.
  • Case Studies — well-documented interventions with clear learning value.
Page limits exclude appendices and supplementary files hosted in repositories.

4. Editorial & Peer Review

  • Process: double-blind peer review with ≥ 2 independent reviewers.
  • Integrity: similarity screening via Turnitin/iThenticate; self-plagiarism and redundant publication are prohibited.
  • Ethics: studies involving humans/animals require ethics approval and consent statements.
  • Transparency: authors must include CRediT roles, funding, conflicts of interest, data availability, and (where applicable) trial registration.

5. Open Access & Licensing

Philantrom provides immediate open access to all content to support a global exchange of knowledge. Articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), permitting sharing and adaptation with appropriate credit to the original work.

6. Archiving & Preservation

Long-term digital preservation is ensured through PKP PN/LOCKSS participation. Article metadata and full-text are interoperable and can be harvested via OAI-PMH.

7. Data, Code & Materials

  • Deposit data, code, and materials (where legally/ethically possible) in trusted repositories (e.g., Zenodo, OSF, Figshare) and include DOI/URL.
  • Cite datasets/software in the References using data/software citation formats.
  • For sensitive data, provide a restricted-access statement with justification and a repository record.

8. Indexing & Metadata

  • All accepted articles receive a Crossref DOI; DOI activation occurs before or at online publication.
  • Rich metadata (license, ORCID, ROR affiliations, funding, references, and data/software citations) are deposited to Crossref.

9. Submission & Template

  1. Prepare your manuscript per the Author Guidelines (structured abstract, references with DOIs, CRediT, ethics, data availability).
  2. Use the official template (.docx) and ensure figures/tables are cited and captioned.
  3. Register/Login to the OJS submission system and complete metadata (authors’ ORCID, affiliations with ROR, funding).
  4. Upload main manuscript, figures/tables (sources as requested), and supplementary files (data/code DOIs, checklists, approvals).
