Open Access Policy

Philantrom: Philanthropy & Management Studies provides immediate open access to its entire content, fostering the free circulation of knowledge in philanthropy, nonprofit management, and social impact studies.

All articles are available online upon publication—free of charge and without access restrictions. Readers may read, download, copy, and share articles as long as proper credit is given under the terms of the article’s license.

1. Policy Statement

Philantrom is committed to ensuring that all research outputs are freely available to the global community. We believe that open access enhances transparency, accountability, and the social impact of knowledge in fields related to philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, and management studies. All published content is accessible immediately upon release.

2. License & User Rights

Unless stated otherwise, articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license allows anyone to share and adapt the material for any purpose, even commercially, provided proper credit is given to the author(s), the source is cited, a link to the license is provided, and changes are indicated.

4. Access, Archiving & Preservation

  • Immediate access: all articles are available open access at publication (no embargo).
  • Preservation: the journal participates in long-term digital preservation systems such as PKP PN/LOCKSS.
  • OAI-PMH endpoint: metadata can be harvested via https://journal.fajarpos.com/index/oai.
Crossref registration ensures DOIs and metadata preservation including license, ORCID, ROR, and funding details.

5. Article Processing Charges (APC) & Waivers

Philantrom may apply an APC upon article acceptance to cover production and editorial services. A waiver and discount policy is available for authors from low-income institutions or regions. Editorial decisions are never influenced by ability to pay.

6. Self-Archiving & Preprints

  • Preprints: authors may post preprints anytime, and after publication should include DOI and citation.
  • Accepted manuscripts (postprints): can be deposited in repositories with citation and DOI link.
  • Version of Record: can be shared freely under CC BY 4.0 with DOI citation.

7. Metadata & Machine Readability

  • Machine-readable metadata include license, ORCID, ROR, and funding information.
  • References contain persistent identifiers (DOIs, Handles, or URLs).
  • Crossref metadata allow interoperability and long-term discoverability.

8. Third-Party Material

Some figures, datasets, or third-party content may not be covered by the article’s CC license. Authors are responsible for securing appropriate permissions and acknowledging rights holders. Reusers must verify these rights before reuse.

9. Compliance & Open Science

  • The journal follows international open-access and open-science principles.
  • Authors are encouraged to share data, tools, and supplementary materials in open repositories (e.g., Zenodo, OSF, Figshare).
