Open Access Policy

Socultra: Journal of Social & Cultural Studies offers immediate open access to all articles, supporting global knowledge exchange in sociology, anthropology, and cultural research.

All articles are freely available online upon publication—no paywalls, no embargoes. Readers may read, distribute, and reuse content under the terms of the article’s license.

1. Policy Statement

Socultra is dedicated to fostering open and inclusive scholarly communication. We believe that unrestricted access to academic publications enhances cultural understanding, supports interdisciplinary research, and advances social transformation. All content is made openly accessible online immediately after publication.

2. License & User Rights

Unless stated otherwise, all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license allows anyone to share and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercial use, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s) and source, a link to the license is included, and any changes are indicated.

4. Access, Archiving & Preservation

  • Immediate access: all articles are open upon publication.
  • Preservation: the journal participates in digital preservation networks such as PKP PN/LOCKSS.
  • OAI-PMH: metadata can be harvested via https://journal.fajarpos.com/index/oai.
Crossref registration ensures long-term availability and discoverability through DOIs and rich metadata (ORCID, ROR, funding, and license data).

5. Article Processing Charges (APC) & Waivers

Socultra may collect APCs to sustain open-access operations (copyediting, layout, and indexing). However, fee waivers are available for authors from developing regions or unfunded institutions. Editorial decisions remain fully independent of payment status.

6. Self-Archiving & Preprints

  • Preprints: authors may post preprints prior to or during review; upon publication, the DOI must be added.
  • Accepted manuscripts (postprints): may be archived in institutional or disciplinary repositories with full citation and DOI link.
  • Version of Record: can be freely shared under the article’s CC BY 4.0 license.

7. Metadata & Machine Readability

  • All metadata include structured license, ORCID, ROR, and funding information.
  • Articles contain machine-readable license tags for indexing and reuse.
  • References include DOIs or other persistent identifiers when available.

8. Third-Party Material

Some figures, photographs, or other third-party content may not be covered by the article’s CC license. Authors are responsible for securing necessary permissions and providing accurate credit lines. Reusers must verify rights before reuse.

9. Compliance & Open Science

  • The journal’s open-access policy aligns with international standards and funder requirements.
  • Authors are encouraged to deposit datasets, multimedia, and supplementary materials in open repositories (e.g., Zenodo, OSF, Figshare).
  • Refer to the Author Guidelines for transparency and data availability standards.
