Open Access Policy

VoxPoli: Journal of Politics & Communication provides immediate, barrier-free open access to all articles to advance transparent, reproducible, and globally accessible political communication research.

All content is freely available online upon publication—no paywalls or embargoes. Use and reuse are permitted under the article’s license with proper attribution.

1. Policy Statement

VoxPoli is committed to equitable access to research on media, politics, public opinion, diplomacy, and (mis/dis)information. Open access accelerates knowledge exchange, supports evidence-based policymaking, and enhances public understanding. All published articles are available online immediately without restrictions.

2. License & User Rights

Unless otherwise specified, articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license permits anyone to share and adapt the work for any purpose, including commercial, provided appropriate credit is given, a link to the license is provided, and changes are indicated.

4. Access, Archiving & Preservation

  • Immediate access: all articles are open upon publication (no embargo).
  • Long-term preservation: the journal participates in distributed archiving systems such as PKP PN/LOCKSS.
  • OAI-PMH endpoint: https://journal.fajarpos.com/index/oai for metadata harvesting.
Crossref registration ensures persistent DOIs and rich metadata (license, ORCID, ROR affiliations, funding, references) for discoverability.

5. Article Processing Charges (APC) & Waivers

VoxPoli may charge an APC upon acceptance to support open-access publishing services (copyediting, typesetting, hosting). A transparent waiver/discount policy exists for eligible authors. Editorial decisions are independent of payment status and based solely on scholarly merit.

6. Self-Archiving & Preprints

  • Preprints: authors may post preprints at any time; after publication, add citation and DOI link.
  • Accepted manuscript (postprint): can be deposited in repositories with full citation and DOI.
  • Version of Record: may be shared under the CC BY 4.0 license with DOI link.

7. Metadata & Machine Readability

  • Machine-readable license information is embedded in article metadata.
  • Author ORCIDs and institutional ROR IDs are recorded where provided.
  • References (and, where applicable, datasets/code) include persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs).

8. Third-Party Material

Certain materials (e.g., images, datasets, transcripts, or media excerpts) may not be covered by the article’s CC license. Authors must obtain permissions and provide accurate credit lines. Reusers should verify rights before reuse.

9. Compliance & Open Science

  • Our OA policy aligns with community standards and many funder mandates.
  • We encourage sharing of datasets, code, instruments (e.g., survey questionnaires) in trusted repositories (Zenodo, OSF, Figshare) with PIDs.
